Confidence intervals for normalized frequencies of tissue-biased genes on the X chromosome. As in Figure 4 of [32], the ratio of microarray signal intensities observed between the tissue sample indicated at the left including midgut, malpigian tubule, accessory gland, salivary gland, head, and ovary was used as a measure of tissue bias. The columns correspond to the frequencies of the genes on the X chromosome normalized against the genome averages, and are shown for the genes with at least two-fold, five-fold, and ten-fold expression bias toward indicated tissues. Confidence intervals (bar) of 70% (A) and 95% (B) are shown for one and two standard error, respectively. Significant deviations (Chi-square with Yates correction) are indicated in (B) for datasets with minimal tissue-to-tissue signal ratio greater than two-, five-, and ten-fold (***P < 0.001; **P < 0.01, *P < 0.05).
