Histogram of pramipexole's neuroprotective effects against MPTP induced cell loss. Effects of subchronic treatment with pramipexole on total TH-IR cell counts in the substantia nigra and ventral tegmental area of mice treated with or without MPTP. Pramipexole were administered 3 days prior to and during the 2-day treatment with MPTP. Animals survived for 7 days after the last MPTP injection. Data are mean ± standard error of the mean from 4–5 samples per group. * P < 0.05 vs all other groups
