  1. Damage accumulation rate and environment were varied for inert and toxic damage that was repaired at a certain optimal investment in repair determined beforehand. Fitness was evaluated by competition. Strategies were: (N) non-repairers regardless of the damage segregation strategy when the latter had insignificant effects on fitness; (S) symmetric division and (O) optimal repair.
