All six population cages started at x R = 0.5 (generation 0) with either 50 RR males and 50 SS females or the reciprocal cross. Hence, all genotypes were RS in generation 1. Red dashed line and square symbols represent the allele frequencies predicted. Population cage frequencies are significantly different from model predictions at generations 2 to 5 (asterisks, t-tests of logit transformed frequency, p <0.05) but match model predictions thereafter (all p >0.05)
