From: RNA-Seq in 296 phased trios provides a high-resolution map of genomic imprinting
Two imprinted transcripts located at 8p23.2 share a bidirectional promoter that coincides with a maternally methylated locus. RP11-134O21.1 and GS1-57L11.1 are expressed from opposing strands, and both show ~ 2-fold expression from the paternal versus maternal allele in LCLs. Prior DNA methylation studies [25] identified a region of increased maternal methylation located at the shared promoter of these two transcripts, confirming parent-of-origin effects at this locus, and indicating this as the likely regulatory element controlling imprinted expression at this locus
