Opinion

Opinion articles in BMC Biology allow authors to present a particular perspective on a topic of current interest. For example, topics might include emerging models to explain biological phenomena, or viewpoints on how to address challenges in a particular field. Opinion articles should be backed up by a solid grounding in the published literature and are not intended for largely speculative or hypothetical discussions.

Most Opinions are commissioned by the BMC Biology editors and we do not encourage uncommissioned submissions for this type of article. However, potential authors are welcome to email a presubmission enquiry to BMCBiologyeditorial@biomedcentral.com

All Opinions published by BMC Biology are peer reviewed.

COVID-19 and impact on peer review

As a result of the significant disruption that is being caused by the COVID-19 pandemic we are very aware that many researchers will have difficulty in meeting the timelines associated with our peer review process during normal times.  Please do let us know if you need additional time. Our systems will continue to remind you of the original timelines but we intend to be highly flexible at this time.
